For those looking to get a Breakthrough and Master these specific skill-sets, Breakthrough Workshops are the premier semi-private training option.

Each Workshop includes:

- skill specific technique theory

- skill specific warm-up, stretching, and conditioning

- skill specific shaping and foundations

- skill specific drills and stations

- 2 instructors

- maximum of 8 athletes

- that's a 4:1 ratio

- advanced skill variations

Now, looking at these skills, you might say your athlete already 'has' some of them. But an important distinction must be made. Just as a commuter-car can be called a 'car', so too can a supercar. But there is a significant difference between them. A difference of quality, power, performance, competitive advantage, and so on. While one is stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on a cold dark morning, the other is carving around a corner on a sunny race-track. Both cars, yes, but entirely different.

And while simply standing on one's hands, or kicking one's legs in air could be called a 'handstand' or a 'cartwheel', a very clear distinction can be made between this and that of performing any of these skills with proper gymnastics technique, with precision, control, power, elegance, and just like high level athletes do.

One will serve as a fun activity - the other will help you to qualify for a higher level, help you to get on the team of your choice, and help you to become a champion.

That's where the Mastery Workshops come in... we take the superiority and advantages of gymnastics, we remove what doesn't apply to your specific needs, and then we laser focus the core training elements onto accomplishing your goals.

For your athlete to truly advance, she deserves a tailored approach, attention to her specific training needs, proven techniques, effective training methods, skill-specific strength and flexibility, and a safe training environment. But...and unfortunately...

...many sources that 'teach' these skills, like online videos, social media, or unqualified friendly advice, don't serve to assist in learning these skills properly. What's worse, many training programs don't do a much better job! Not only can this build hard-to-overcome-bad-habits that could take years to correct, this can also be extremely dangerous. And finding a place to train, with safe equipment, top-level instructors, where proper technique is taught, and where classes aren't jammed packed, is nearly impossible --- until now!

With Mastery Workshops your athlete will learn the same techniques used by national level competitive gymnasts, do the same conditioning exercises as national level competitive gymnasts, stretch in the same manner as national level competitive gymnasts, AND they will be trained by one of Canada's top coaches, in a small group setting, and with safe training equipment!

These Breakthrough Workshops are the perfect addition to your athlete's current training, and they will supercharge her abilities and give her a true competitive advantage!

We are not a 'gymnastics club', a 'dance studio', or a 'cheerleading team'. Instead, we offer a new and unique training solution designed to give your daughter a performance boost and a competitive edge, regardless of the team she's on or the club she's from.

And since we are not in competition with your dance studio or training facility, we are uniquely positioned to provide you with the supplementary and complimentary training you've been looking for. We're on your side all the way!

A training opportunity like this is rare to say the least, especially since the Lead Coach for the Breakthrough Workshops only teaches competitive gymnasts, many of whom compete nationally and internationally - until now!

Cartwheels and

Round-offs

Cartwheels and Round-offs are often seen as standalone skills that many beginners perform on their own. But Cartwheels and Round-offs actually serve a much more significant purpose, one that makes mastering them very important. The main purpose of a Cartwheel or a Round-off is to start a tumbling series. They are often followed by a Back Handspring. But if they aren't performed correctly, the entire tumbling series can be crooked, weak, inefficient, and dangerous.

Performing a Cartwheel or Roundoff correctly will result in faster, more powerful, and much safer tumbling.

They are both complex skills that require attention to detail. From the starting position, to the arm placement and direction of travel on entry, to the right time to turn, to the proper hand positions, to the exit position (which changes depending on the skill that follows) - all of these must be taken into consideration and performed correctly in order to make a tumbling series possible. And the better they are, the better the tumbling will be.

Before considering any of the Breakthrough Workshops below, consider if your daughter has mastered her Cartwheels and Handstands yet. Simply mastering her Cartwheels and Round-offs will have a profound effect on the tumbling series that comes after them.

Bridges and Walkovers

The Bridge is fundamental to performing front and back walkovers and more advanced tumbling. Bridges involve a combination of shoulder strength and flexibility, core and hip flexibility, as well as balance and coordination.

Front and Back Walkovers involve transitioning through Handstands and Bridges with the legs in a split position.

Once one masters Bridges and Walkovers, they will be ready to perform flight versions - Front and Back Handsprings. And when Handstands, Cartwheels, Bridges and Walkovers are combined, they begin for form Tumbling Series.

Front and Side Aerials

Aerials are flight skills - where a cartwheel or front walkover are performed without the use of the hands.

They are very dynamic skills that involve power, flexibility, coordination, timing, and grace. They can be performed on their own or in Series.

Naturally, mastering Cartwheels and Walkovers is a necessity in order to begin learning Aerials.

Front and Back Handsprings

Front Handsprings lead into Front Tumbling Series, much like Cartwheels and Round-offs lead into Back Tumbling Series. A two-footed version of a Front Handspring, is a Front Flyspring.

Back Handsprings can be performed on their own; however, they are often used in the Middle Phase of Tumbling Series, between a Cartwheel or Round-off and Saltos (flips) that come afterwards.

As a result, Back Handsprings are one of the most important tumbling elements. A Back Handspring that is performed without hands is called a Whip (see Salto Workshops below for details).

Here are the main Saltos, aka "Flips":

Back Tuck - a backflip performed in a tucked position

Back Pike - a backflip performed in a piked position

Back Layout - a backflip performed with the legs straight and the hips extended

Back Whip (or 'whip-back') - a backflip between a Back Handspring and a Back Layout

Front Tuck - a front-flip performed in a tucked position

Front Pike - a front-flip performed in a piked position

Front Layout - a front-flip performed with the legs straight and the hips extended

Front Whip - a front-flip between a Front Handspring and a Front Layout

Tumbling Series

Now it is time to combine all of the above skills to create Tumbling Series.

For example, Round-off -> Back Handspring -> Back Tuck

OR

Front Handspring, Cartwheel Step-out, Back Handspring Step-out, Back Layout Step-out

The combinations are numerous. Putting different combinations together is both challenging and exciting, and it involves a lot of creativity.
